As far back as I can remember I have always been fascinated by colours and textures. I grew up with a drive to create. My works are a combination of light, shadows and textures and I work with different tools — palette knife, brushes and various montages, to give my paintings a realistic and figurative effect, with a tinge of romanticism. I must admit that I am very moved by impressionist painters and they certainly influence me.
Creating a new work is always a process of discovery. Whether I’m working on board or canvas, I let my heart and the impulse of the moment be my guide. Painting is a privilege, it gives me the opportunity to show my admiration for everything that lives and forms part of the environment around me. Each work opens a window on the world through what it lets us see and perceive. Don’t they say that a picture is worth a thousand words?
Located in the beautiful Shefford area, my house welcomes all who wish to come as students. I have been an artist for a very long time, and I have been teaching painting for the past 25 years in an atmosphere of simplicity and harmony. Giving yourself a chance to paint is giving yourself permission to enter a very rewarding space. As a teacher, I’ve had the privilege of encouraging talented local people beautify their homes and nourish within themselves something that we all share: “A feeling for beauty.”
